International Women’s Day 2026: Rights, Justice and Action Through Women in Business
IWD Facts: The Current Reality for Women and Girls
International Women’s Day 2026 comes at a time when justice systems around the world are under strain. Conflict, repression, and political tensions are weakening the rule of law.
The result is stark.
Women and girls have just 64 per cent of the legal rights of men.
Too often women are turned away, not believed, re-victimised, or priced out of legal support. When this happens, equality never truly arrives.

International Women’s Day 2026
Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls
Sunday 8th March marks International Women’s Day, and this year’s theme is:
Rights. Justice. Action. For all women and girls.
At first glance, that might sound like the language of politics or activism.
But there is another powerful dimension to this conversation.
One of the most profound ways women create rights, justice, and action is through economic power.
When women in business make money, something extraordinary happens.
We create choice.
We create agency.
And we create impact.
Because money in the hands of women rarely stays with women alone.
Women invest in:
-
their families
-
their communities
-
education
-
charities
-
causes
-
and each other
When a woman grows her business, she doesn’t just create revenue.
She creates ripples of influence.
Why Networking Matters for Women in Business
This is where networking the Athena Way becomes incredibly important.
Athena was never designed to be a room where women simply exchange business cards and hope something happens.
Athena was designed to be a commercial ecosystem where women intentionally support each other’s growth.
Where we recognise something very powerful:
When one woman succeeds in this room, it is good for all of us.
Because wealth through connection is not theoretical.
It is practical.
It happens when we pay attention to one another’s businesses.
It happens when we listen deeply.
It happens when we become advocates for each other in rooms where the other woman is not present.
This is what I call:
“Talking behind women’s backs … in a good way.”
The Power of Taking Action in a Business Network
When you attend a meeting, an event, ask yourself a simple question:
How can I take action for another woman in this room?
Action might look like:
-
making a warm introduction
-
recommending her to a client
-
sharing her expertise with someone who needs it
-
collaborating on a project
-
amplifying her work
These are not small things.
These are economic actions.
They move money.
They move opportunity.
They move influence.
And when we do this collectively, something remarkable happens.
The success in the room compounds.
Imagine if every woman here made just one meaningful introduction this month.
One introduction that led to:
-
a new client
-
a new contract
-
a new partnership
That is how networks become engines of prosperity.
Prosperity Is Powerful
Prosperity is not a selfish pursuit.
Prosperity is powerful.
Because a woman with a thriving business can:
-
support causes she believes in
-
mentor the next generation
-
create jobs
-
fund ideas
-
influence systems
That is Rights. Justice. Action.
Not as an abstract idea.
But as a lived reality created through business success.
Three Invitations for International Women’s Day
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I invite you to do three things.
1. Recognise the Power in the Room
Every woman is building something.
Every woman has influence.
Every woman has connections that could change the trajectory of another woman’s business.
2. Be Intentional
Networking the Athena Way is never passive.
Listen carefully during the meetings you attend and ask yourself:
-
Who could I connect?
-
Who should know about this business?
-
Where could this woman’s expertise make a difference?
3. Take Action
Connection without action is simply conversation.
But connection with action creates momentum.
And momentum creates growth.
When Women Support Women, Outcomes Change
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, remember this:
When women grow businesses
When women create wealth
When women support each other commercially
We are not just networking.
We are changing outcomes.
For ourselves.
For our families.
For our communities.
And for the women and girls who will follow us.
So as we move into the meeting today, network with one thought in mind:
How can my connections today create impact tomorrow?
Because when women connect intentionally:
Rights expand.
Justice grows.
And action becomes unstoppable.
And that is networking the Athena Way.
A Final Thought
As you listen to the women in the meetings you attend, listen a little differently.
Listen not just for what a woman does.
But for:
-
where she could make an impact
-
who might need her expertise
-
who you could introduce her to
-
where her work could change an outcome
Because every connection we make has the potential to move opportunity, influence, and prosperity.
