Meet Anna Atkins-Carter

Hi!  I’m Anna and I’m addicted to The Athena Network!  laughing

I just LOVE how it brings women together with a sense of collaboration over competition and into a warm, inspiring business community.

I joined The Athena Network as a member in February 2014.  As a nervous, totally inexperienced networker, I had no idea what to expect. On that day, I think I would rather have been anywhere doing anything but attend that first meeting.  However, as soon as I walked in, a feeling of belonging and inclusion washed over me.  OK, I’d brought cake and cake always helps (I was a baker when I joined) but there was something really special about that first moment and I’ll always remember it.

In the first few months of membership those fantastic women of my “home” group (Buckingham), my Regional Director (Jacqueline Rogers, the CEO and Founder of The Athena Network) and the other amazing women across the network, helped me to redefine, rebrand and officially launch my business.  Their advice, understanding and willingness to share their experience and expertise was absolutely pivotal to that new business offering, and to making me the woman I am today. I will treasure that experience forever.

As time went by, my confidence grew more than I could ever have imagined.  From the woman who daren’t look up as she presented her monthly minute, to the woman who could chair a meeting at another group with flair and enthusiasm aplenty. It was at that time, I knew I wanted more for myself and the women I met. I wanted to be their biggest cheerleader.  And when a chance conversation with Jacqueline Rogers happened, and she asked if I’d like to be a Regional Director, I nearly burst with excitement and pride.

In June 2016, I took over the Buckingham and Milton Keynes region. And I LOVE it! I genuinely think I have the best job in the world. I get to meet and support bold, bodacious women and to support them in their business dreams. It’s an absolute privilege.

In November 2021, I partnered with the lovely Claire Newell, who was running the North/East Oxfordshire region of The Athena Network, and took over the running of the West Chilterns region too. I’m thrilled to be able to support and cheerlead even more women.

I really do think I have the best “job” in the world!

 

GROUP INFORMATION

I proudly manage the North Bucks territory and co-manage the West Chiterns territory with my colleague Claire Newwell.

The Milton Keynes and Buckingham groups are in my North Bucks region.

The Aylesbury and Tring (along with Berkhamsted which Claire Newell runs) are in the West Chilterns region

All of them are vibrant, supportive groups where you can be assured of a warm welcome and excellent business connections. They all offer you the opportunity to meet local business women and step out of the isolation so many female entrepreneurs can feel.

All of the members pride themselves on the strategic connections that they have created, collaborating with each other to create new projects and services.

Aylesbury meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 12 – 2pm (excluding August & December).

Tring meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 12 – 2pm (excluding August & December).

Milton Keynes meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 12 – 2pm (excluding August & December).

Buckingham meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 12 – 2pm (excluding August & December).

Membership is only £565 per annum*.

We can provide a payment plan that would include an upfront payment of £325 and a monthly subscription of £20.

*NOTE: You are committing to a 12-month membership.

Membership of The Athena Network will give you access to all of our membership benefits including PASS+ which means that you can currently attend 150+ meetings (at no additional cost), Cappuccino Connections (informal networking), an extensive training portfolio and all the connections within our network.

UNLIMITED ACCESS TO ALL OF OUR MEETINGS

PASS+ IS YOUR GATEWAY TO ALL OF OUR MEETINGS

PASS+ gives you FREE access to an Athena meeting, there are no additional fees to be paid and this is another benefit of membership. You are encouraged to visit as many other meetings as you have time for (please ensure that you have sufficient time to follow up from your meetings).

We have launched in Australia, Denmark and Singapore and more  International group launches are planned.  What that means is you will  also have access to those meetings.  You could say that we have meetings 24/7.   If the time zones work for you then your options are UNLIMITED.

ALL of this is included in your annual membership.  Our usual meeting guidelines apply, which means there will be no professional clashes at the meetings, and the Regional Director/Ambassador will manage the dynamics of the mix of industries to ensure that everyone attending has an outstanding experience.
