Meet Sharon Gaskin
Becoming an Athena Regional Director was never really on my radar. In fact, it all started with a conversation with Lindsay, who had apparently been stalking me on LinkedIn! 🤣
At first, I was intrigued but not quite sold. Yet, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. The more I learned about Athena and the incredible opportunities it offers to women in business, the more I realised it ticked so many of my boxes.
Since moving to Mumbles, I’ve been looking for ways to connect with other local businesswomen, not just for myself but to support and uplift others too. I’ve learnt a lot about business over the years—through my own journey of leaving corporate life, setting up as a freelancer, and eventually launching The Trainers Training Company and the Trainer Talk community to help freelance trainers build successful businesses.
One thing I’ve always been passionate about is nurturing and building communities. I firmly believe that personal connection is the key to a successful and enjoyable business, and that’s exactly what Athena is all about. It’s more than just networking in South Wales – it’s about genuine relationships, collaboration, and opportunities that grow your business in a meaningful way.
When I’m not running my business, you’ll often find me out enjoying everything this beautiful area has to offer—especially walking my dog, Lily, on the beach. But I also can’t wait to build Athena South Wales into a thriving, supportive community for women in business.

HOW TO ATTEND ATHENA SOUTH WALES MEETINGS
Our women’s networking South Wales meetings are held online via Zoom on the first Tuesday of each month (apart from August and December), 12pm-2pm.
Each meeting includes informal networking in breakout rooms, networking strategy training, a business card shuffle, 60-second member spotlights, a business development talk from a fellow member, and our popular Let’s Talk Business segment — where members shout out, connect and collaborate.
We also run quarterly Cappuccino Connections — relaxed in-person meetups for coffee and conversation across South Wales.

Membership of The Athena Network will give you access to all of our membership benefits including PASS+ which means that you can currently attend 150+ meetings (at no additional cost), Cappuccino Connections (informal networking), an extensive training portfolio, large national events quarterly and all the connections within our network.
If you choose to pay by monthly instalments, you are still committing to a full 12-month Athena membership. The payment plan is simply a convenient way to spread the cost of the annual membership fee. The full annual fee remains payable in its entirety, and membership is non-refundable once commenced.

PASS+ gives you FREE access to an Athena meeting, there are no additional fees to be paid and this is another benefit of membership. You are encouraged to visit as many other meetings as you have time for (please ensure that you have sufficient time to follow up from your meetings).
We have launched in Singapore and more International group launches are planned. What that means is you will also have access to those meetings. You could say that we have meetings 24/7. If the time zones work for you then your options are UNLIMITED.
ALL of this is included in your annual membership. Our usual meeting guidelines apply, which means there will be no professional clashes at the meetings, and the Regional Director/Ambassador will manage the dynamics of the mix of industries to ensure that everyone attending has an outstanding experience.
