Meet Anna Atkins-Carter

Regional Director

After spending 20 years in various corporate roles, I found myself in the enviable position of voluntary redundancy with a generous exit package. Something which I’m ever grateful for, especially when I hear of others forced into redundancy with the bare minimum.

For some time, I’d wanted to break out of the 9 to 5 rat-race and start my own business, and here was my golden opportunity. So I launched Rosedene Bakery, offering vintage Afternoon Tea packages.

Within weeks of leaving my corporate role I’d joined The Athena Network, before my business had really got underway.  I can absolutely, hand on heart, tell you it was THE best thing I ever did for my business and for my personal development.  The support, encouragement, guidance and expertise I was offered (and continue to be offered) was invaluable.

Life changed in 2015, when I decided to adopt my dog, Tiger.  He’s absolutely wonderful, but it made a home-based baking business less and less viable. Dogs and baking aren’t a good combo…  So, I began looking for another fulfilling business opportunity.

I desperately didn’t want to leave Athena or lose contact with the connections I‘d made that had supported me and that I now considered to be my friends.  Fortuitously it was at this point that the opportunity to be a Regional Director for The Athena Network was presented to me by our inspirational founder, Jacqueline Rogers.  It was all I could do not to bite her hand off when she made the offer – I don’t think I’d ever hugged anyone so hard before.  This gave me the opportunity to help many more women experience the network for themselves and allowed me to fully embrace something I felt so passionately about.

That’s where you find me now; developing the North Buckinghamshire region.  I currently have 2 wonderful groups serving Buckingham and Milton Keynes, and plan to open a third in 2018.

And I’ve never been happier!
